about: I started down the RP road back in my teens during the LiveJournal era, took a long hiatus after a rough patch, and then rolled into DWRP in 2015. I'm living the PSL life these days, though I've been in and out of many games over the years. I'm on the more chill side of the player spectrum, prefer that threads be collaborative between writers, and I'm in it for the long haul over the short term.

I've had a tough time keeping up with things of late thanks to life stuff and occasionally unreliable notifs, but I've enjoyed each and every thread I've had during these troubled times, whether it was with friends or strangers wandering through the streets of baker. (And I'm always ready and willing to pick up old threads or start new things with folks, I'm just too anxious to reach out myself half the time.)

PLAYER PREFERENCES

rp style: I default to [ brackets ] with present tense, but will absolutely do prose if that's my partner's preference. I rarely do texting threads, generally prefer tags to have more than 2-3 sentences, and don't like to assume a lot of CR. I enjoy writing first meeting threads but am willing to handwave a few basic first interactions. (There are exceptions to this; see relationships below.)

backtagging: My tagging speed can be a bit sporadic these days, so backtagging is my default status during the tough times. And I'm always happy to pick up old threads no matter how much time has passed and no matter who is up next. And if you ever worry that I might have accidentally dropped a thread, please contact me! I've probably lost a notif or marked something as read and lost track of things.

boomeranging: I love it, I'm not gonna lie. If someone is around to write for hours with me, I will likely set aside everything else to get that sweet serotonin boost from flinging words back and forth. But I know not all my partners can do this, so I never fault anyone for taking any amount of time to write back.

memes vs psls: I am much more interested in long-term psls that can take weeks, months, or even years to finish. Short-term memes that end after a dozen tags each just aren't my style, as I would much rather have time to dive into the characters and whatever relationship and dynamic develops between them. (I am, however, absolutely open to building cr over multiple memes and/or testing the waters with a meme before a longer commitment!)

games: I am a self-professed Picky Bitch when it comes to games. My ideal games are small-to-medium in size, in the horror, sci-fi, or survival genres, have higher AC to guarantee a certain level of player involvement, and are not a 1:1 day ratio. That particular combo is hard to come by, but I'm always open to suggestions of games with even a few of these criteria.

crosscanon: My bread and butter. 99% of the time, I prefer threads with crosscanon rather than canonmates, it's just how I'm hardwired. Figuring out how to get characters in the same room when they come from potentially very different worlds is the most exciting for me. Whether it be dropping one character into another's world or meshing the two together or going with an entire AU, I am here for all the crosscanon.

crossmedium: This is an iffy one for me, particularly with anime/manga characters. Occasionally, I'm game for it, but usually, I like to stick with live-action mediums, with exceptions for lifelike videogames or comics. (It's just a weird brain thing for me, I can't really explain it.)

alternate universes: Yes please, all day, everyday. Canon divergences, mashups, and reimaginings are one of the best parts of this hobby for me. The thing didn't happen in canon? Who cares, this is RP and we do what we want.

favorites: My favorite things to write include emotional moments, hurt/comfort, bonding over shared experiences/trauma, stolen moments of happiness, normal daily life for people who aren't used to it and thus struggle with and find it extremely weird. My go-to genres are horror, survival, sci-fi, and the occasional dash of dark fantasy. Apocalyptic stories are my current top craving.

warnings requested: There's not much that will bother me OOCly, but I'll always let my writing partners know if something does come up. For IC subjects, I'll give a heads-up if something will have a stronger reaction than usual. (Please do not ever link me photos of bugs.)

not interested in: r!63 characters aren't really my jam. I'm also not usually comfortable with threads with child characters.

SCENE PREFERENCES

relationships: Shipping is my jam, but unless there is established CR between our characters, I would prefer not to jump straight into the middle of a relationship for a thread. As a player, I need the context of canon or previous threads in order to feel comfortable writing any relationships. (The exception to this is when characters share a canon, because then it's easier for me to make those mental leaps.) I love a good slow-burn and really digging into relationship-building between characters, but sometimes the chemistry sparks fly and I'm equally happy to go full speed ahead.

sex: Except for rare circumstances, I prefer writing the build-up and then fading to black or skipping ahead to after the deed. I'm just infinitely better with the emotional than the technical in-the-act side of things.

fighting: I am horrible at writing action scenes and would rather gloss over them or end them quickly where possible.

injury/death: I am always down for these for either of our characters so long as there is prior OOC discussion.

psychic information: Should your character attempt to use psychic abilities on mine, this should be communicated in advance OOCly so I can include information in tag narratives. Only what is in those narratives is fair game to be read by your character.

fourthwalling: I'm usually okay with characters recognizing mine to an extext, such as being from an obscure book or comic in their universe, but please no knowing her entire life story.

content warnings: If there are major content warnings for my characters, they will be listed on info pages on their journals. Please let me know if there are items you'd prefer not come up in threads, otherwise I will assume that you are fine with anything in those warning lists.

CHARACTERS

My full muselist is here, but these are my current main characters:

» Julia Wicker, The Magicians ( [personal profile] ourladytrees )
A strong-willed, stubborn, incredibly smart, and fiercely protective magician who tends to make fairly questionable life choices and doesn't really take no for an answer. She's been through hell a few times and has the emotional scars to prove it, but she's healing, and depending on canonpoint, she is becoming or has recently been an actual goddess. (Despite becoming a goddess, Julia firmly believes that gods are dicks and will appreciate others who share that view.) Depending on the thread, Julia is pulled from s3-s4; I disregard s5. Please review these cw.

» Andy, The Old Guard ( [personal profile] scythie )
A formerly ancient immortal who has now become human once again. Andromache of Scythia, known to friends as Andy, has traveled the world for millennia with a small group of others like herself, fighting and dying for what she thought was right. She is incredibly loyal to those she claims as family, and while she had become jaded by the state of the world despite all she'd done, she is doing her best to embrace her final years of life as a chance to see hope in the world again.

» Eun-Yu Lee, Sweet Home ( [personal profile] ingan )
An angry young woman trying to survive an apocalypse where people turn into literal monsters. Eun-Yu faced trauma both before and after the end of the world, and her sole focus in life has become finding her lost brother no matter how long it takes or the dangers she must face along the way. She might seem aloof and uncaring at times, but she can't not care about other people.

» La'an Noonien-Singh, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds ( [personal profile] rescapee )
Extremely dedicated Chief of Security aboard the USS Enterprise. Descendant of Khan Noonien-Singh, a genetically augmented genocidal dictator. Possibly the Federation's foremost expert on the Gorn (ie Star Trek's Xenomorph) thanks to surviving multiple encounters with them. She has trouble connecting with people but cares deeply about others, and has dedicated her life to protecting others so they never suffer the same traumas she has.

» Daisy Johnson, Agents of SHIELD / MCU ( [personal profile] chuju )
A millennial hacker turned spy turned superhero who has been through more trauma than most characters in the MCU, including growing up an orphan, being betrayed by those she loves, the death of many loved ones that she feels responsible for... But despite all the pain in her life, she's still compassionate, loyal, and ready and willing to sacrifice herself to protect others. I tend to play her post-season 7 when she's in her early 30s.

» Buffy Summers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer ( [personal profile] first_summers )
She who hangs out a lot in cemeteries, the original Chosen One destined to fight the forces of darkness and die a whole lot doing it. She's lived her life with the literal weight of the world on her shoulders and has a whole lot of damage from it that I would love to explore. I pull Buffy from post-season 7 and mostly disregard the comics.

» Alice Abernathy, Resident Evil ( [personal profile] alicefelldown )
A former Umbrella Corporation employee who failed to stop the T-virus outbreak that destroyed the world. She carries the guilt of that failure with her every day and does everything she possibly can to fight against the remnants of Umbrella while protecting what is left of humanity. She has a fondness for children, knows her way around weapons, and tries to find a bit of humor in the endtimes. I tend to play Alice in the Extinction and Afterlife eras, with or without powers.
